Type of tooth: S-type nd U-type are used in general. (Refer to KS and JIS standards)

 Ideal tooth conditions

→ It should have appropriate pressure angle to absorb tension of chain. 

→ It should have appropriate escape angle to prevent interference upon elongation of  chain during operation 

→ Pressure angle must be preserved when matching positoin changes by abrasion and elongation of chain 

→ Processing must be easy

 Materials

→ Since strong wear resistance is required at the bottom of tooth to minimize impact during chain operatoin and abrasion caused by contact with roller, material appropriate for heat treatment is selected 

→ Sprocket with hardened tip is used when wear resistance is required
