Safety

According to international transportation law, lithium-ion batteries are considered hazardous materials. Therefore we’d like to stress the following aspects:

Jungheinrich uses lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO), which is currently the safest cell chemistry. From an ecological point of view, it‘s non-toxic and harmless.
All of our batteries have passed the UN transportation test.
Our in-house developed battery management system ensures safe operation.
The enclosed design (IP54) makes the battery insensitive to outside influences.
Our well-trained technicians take care of the transport and disposal of lithium-ion batteries.

Almost our entire fleet is now li-ion ready.

Battery operation

The battery can be operated at a cell temperature between -10 °C / -20 °C* and 55 °C. Outside of this temperature range the battery and also the forklift truck shut down automatically.

Charging process
Easy charging of li-ion batteries thanks to the comfort charging concept. No need to open a battery cover or door anymore. Benefit from opportunity charging at any time.

Charging strategy
Maximum flexibility thanks to an intelligent charging concept. The one-to-one connection (battery with charger) is obsolete. You can charge any battery with any charger with the same voltage.

Optimizing the battery service life
Operating the battery is best at a medium state of charge. On the contrary, to lead-acid batteries, opportunity charging extends the life of a Li-ion battery.

Full charges
The battery should be fully charged at least once per month.
