Thermal Protection

*. The Thermal Protection defined in this specification, is used during the construction of membrane tanks for the containment of liquefied natural gas(-163 C)

*. This material is dedicated to be used as a Thermal Protection of flammable components, generally made of plywood, located undemeath fillet welds carried out on membranes of various thickness and types(Invar or stainless steel).

*. The Thermal Protection is a flexible multi-layer tape to be inserted inside a groove machined in the plywood or applied on the apparent veneer of the plywood. The tape will be held on the plywood by means of staples. 
The characteristics of the fiber glass cloth (thickness, weaving, eventual heat cleaning treatment for eliminating the organic components….)and of the aluminium foil(thickness) shall be specified by the supplier.
Any other kind of Thermal Protection may be proposed by the supplier.

*. Dimensions of the Thermal Protection

. Thickness :0.8mm as a maximum.
. Width : 60mm or 80mm for the standard case. Variable width up to 150mm can be accepted for specified.
. Length : to be specified by the shipyard depending on the delivery conditions.
