STAR's TECH is a chemical manufacturing company founded in November of 2017 with the motto of 'Save the environment with renewable bio-waste'.  By using starfish extract from marine waste, we developed 'ECO-ST,' the world's first eco-friendly de-icer with exceptional melting performance.

With the unique technology and innovativeness of 'ECO-ST,' STAR's TECH won the prize of 300K USD at the 2018 Korea's largest start-up competition. In 2019, STAR's TECH received Series A(2M USD) from Hanwha Investment & Securities. Thanks to this growth, we were one of the five major start-ups representing Korea invited to the Finnish Royal Dinner in 2019 and appointed economic delegation. In 2021, received Series B from NH Investment & Securities.

ECO-ST - Eco-Friendly De-Icer using Starfish Extract

ECO-ST is an Eco-Friendly De-icer produced using specially formulated starfish extracts. By recycling bio-waste from predatory starfish, our product addresses corrosion and environmental issues with conventional salt while offering superior snow melting performance. ECO-ST's outstanding snow melting performance is 166% more effective than sodium chloride ice snow melter. This level of performance provides a level of maintenance up to 3 times greater than calcium chlorides.

1) Why Starfish? The problems caused by starfish are a major international issue, and many countries waste hundreds of billions of dollars each year to solve this problem. STAR's TECH upcycles and processes predatory starfish for use as the main ingredient of the product. We reduce unnecessary costs for the government to dispose of the starfish. Using starfish as a raw material can reduce starfish disposal costs, damage to fishermen's farms, and the destruction of coral reefs.

2) Perfect-ECO: Our De-icer with starfish extract minimizes the damage to roadside, trees, and vegetation caused by chloride ions and reduces corrosion to infrastructure and personal property. Also, unaccountable costs such as respiratory diseases and pet paw burns are addressed by ECO-ST. In addition, ECO-ST minimizes the cost of repairing roads, bridges, vehicles, and guardrails by preventing accidents and minimizing steel corrosion and concrete breakage rates.

3) SPECIAL COATING BEAD: ECO-ST adopted a special coding bead type, which is different from the existing snow removal agent's flake type. Using special coating bead type de-icer solved the solidification and dust problem of conventional flake type de-icer. In melting performance-wise, it shows an overwhelming penetration effect.

4) ANTI-CORROSION FORMULA AND COST SAVING: Starfish De-icer formula delivers fast and effective results without damaging surfaces such as concrete or metals. Our STAR’s Tech ECO-ST boasts a major reduction in corrosion rate, close to 0%, at 0.8% corrosion, far exceeding the standard 30% corrosion rate required for an Eco-friendly deicer.
