Types of Activated Carbon

Carbon Briquet

· Product produced by high pressure extrusion

· Low pressure loss and high iodine value

· Used for high concentration gas such as painting and drying facilities, solvent recovery facilities, etc.

Granular Activated Carbon

· Relatively large surface area

· Most commonly used activated carbon in the industry

· Waste activated carbon can be recycled

Powdered Activated Carbon

· Mainly used to discolor, deodorize, remove bad taste and impurities of liquid materials

· Suitable for water treatment

Impregnated Activated Carbon

Select and design using activated carbon suitable for gas characteristics of each business site Use activated carbon with more than 1000mg/g of iodine value  Design in ways that gas can stay in activated carbon for at least 1 second and the flow rate of activated carbon is less than 0.5m/sec.

 

Iodine Value's Importance

Breakthrough Curve

Over time on the breakthrough curve, we can see that the toluene concentration increases and the iodine adsorption power decreases. Using activated carbon with high iodine value can increase activated carbon replacement cycle and its adsorption power.
