Special Plating? 

For special plating, dry plating and HVOF coatings are used.
Dry plating uses ionized coating materials in vacuum state to create surface coating, and HVOF uses a high heat source gun that melts and sprays the wire, or powered materials to the substrate surface, creating coating.
Furthermore, there is chemical milling process that uses chemical etching process to chemically shape the product.
