The founder and former president, Mr.Ji-Young Ryu, was the well known engineer in the carbide cutting tools industry in Korea for his uppermost technology.

Korean government supported him to establish high technological company by approving his scheme for introducing German facilities into Korea. Kumha manufactured only carbide cutting tools for woodworking like TCT(Tungsten Carbide Tipped) circular saw, router bits, cutters when he was established. At that time, Kumha had about 90% market share in musical instrument factories.

Kumha's precision and technology were enough to have favorable comments from various types of woodworking industries.

At present, Kumha produce not only woodworking tools but also metalworking tools.

Especially, TCT (Tungsten Carbide Tipped) cutting tools have number one market share and top ranked exported products during last consecutive ten years in Korea.
